I’m so glad they played this song.  It’s like my anthem.  And also probably my favorite Modest Mouse song.

A new song, Heart of Mine, played at the Frost Ampitheater last Saturday.

The show was nothing short of incredible.  Eyes Lips Eyes was really good, as well.

Modest Mouse was awesome.  Great set list tonight.

So excited for this!

So excited for this!

SHIT LUCK by MODEST MOUSE

Modest Mouse, Shit Luck

I just bought this CD today so I have something to listen to while I’m cruising around in the Cadillac.

Modest Mouse and Ugly Casanova, all night.  Music up, world off.

I will remember to remember to forget you forgot me.

As life gets longer, awful feels softer.

Well, it feels pretty soft to me.

What’s the best Modest Mouse album?

I can’t decide.  I’m leaning towards The Moon & Antartica, but I’m not sure it’s a question that can actually be answered.  Every album is damn near perfect.  Perhaps it’s The Lonesome Crowded West.  That album has most of the songs that I first fell in love with.  It’s the album that got me into Modest Mouse.

Is there a bad Modest Mouse song?  I think not.

I can’t wait to see them again someday.

Modest Mouse at the Warfield in San Francisco

I had a great time at the Modest Mouse show last night.  This is the best video I took of the night.  The setlist wasn’t exactly what I was expecting or hoping for, but it was still awesome.  One of the best shows I’ve ever seen, only topped by the two nights I saw Brand New and Manchester Orchestra.

Also, Talkdemonic opened the show, and they were incredible as well.  They even joined in during a few songs; you can see Lisa Molinaro playing the violin in this video of Cowboy Dan.

Setlist:

1. Bury Me With It

2. Fire It Up

3. The Whale Song

4. new song

5. Satin in a Coffin

9. The View

10. another new song

11. Gravity Rides Everything

12. Satellite Skin

13. Float On

14. King Rat

15. I Came as a Rat

"We’re releasing a new app, called iBrock. It drinks at your house for a while, then leaves all pissed off."

— Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse

And it’s hard to be a human being

And it’s harder as anything else

And I’m lonesome when you’re around

And I’m never lonesome when I’m by myself

And I miss you when you’re around”

Isn’t that the truth?

Is it stupid to miss someone I hang out with on a daily basis and lives fifty feet from me? Maybe, but I do.

Things are really looking up. Between good music, cigarettes, art, and finally accepting your friendship for just friendship, I’m in a good fucking mood.

Modest Mouse tonight, taking my EOC tomorrow, getting a better score than you so I can slap the shit out of you, and then finally taking as much leave as I can … What’s not to look forward to?

I’ve a bit over two years left in this shit hole of a state, and I can’t wait for it to be over so I can start doing what I really want to, but I’ll be damned if I spend it sitting around counting down the days.

Life is what you make it. As Barney Stinson famously says, “When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead.”

Well I’ve been sad, and now I’ve stopped. It’s time to be awesome instead.

I’ve been in such a good mood lately. I’m eager to make some more art.

Also I’m so pumped to go see Modest Mouse tonight. It wasn’t all that long ago that I didn’t even know who they were. Now they’re one of my favorite bands, if not my absolute favorite, right up there with Brand New, Circa Survive, and Manchester Orchestra.

“My hell comes from inside, comes from inside myself.

Why fight this?

Everyone’s afraid of their own lives.  If you could be anything you want, I bet you’d be disappointed, am I right?”

I might be the only one now, but I’m pumped for this concert.
